“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad O’Connor” the singer’s family stated in a statement. Because this is such a terrible time, her family and friends have asked for privacy.

The celebrated Dublin singer/songwriter recorded ten studio albums, and the Billboard Music Awards ranked her song Nothing Compares 2 U the top global hit of 1990. The ballad, which was composed by artist Prince, was covered by her and reached the top of the charts all over the world. She was nominated for three Grammys for the song.

In her final tweet before her passing, Sinead O’Connor conveyed her sorrow at losing her son Shane to suicide.

Just last week, the Inspirational Quotes account tweeted, “Tell me how your life is going using emojis.” The iconic Irish musician, who passed away on Wednesday, answered.

O’Connor used the hashtag “Lostmy17yrOldSonToSuicidein2022” along with sobbing face emojis.

The 56-year-old added, “Been living as undead night creature since,” to the poignant post on July 17.

He was my soul’s light and the love of my life. We were two parts of one soul. Without him, I would be lost in the bardo since he was the only one who had ever loved me without conditions.

The singer further uploaded a picture of Shane in which the two were hugging and grinning.

The disturbed 17-year-old unfortunately passed away in Dublin in January of last year, one day after evading hospital suicide watch. He had made two prior attempts before being admitted to the hospital.

After his passing, O’Connor honored him in an Instagram post.

The Grammy winner tweeted, “The very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.”

“May he rest in peace, and may others not emulate him. I adore you so much, my darling. Be at peace, please.

She admitted to being suicidal and told The Guardian that no one had ever mentioned to her or her family that taking her ovaries would make her a crazy bitch. The kids were scared of me because of this. I was incensed.

Sinead had asked for assistance in locating her kid on social media while he was still missing. She also publicly pleaded with her son to contact the police so they could get him the assistance he required.

Your life is valuable, Shane. God did not carve that lovely smile onto your lovely face in vain. Without you, my world would come to an end. My heart is in you. Don’t stop the heart from beating, please. Do not hurt yourself, she pleaded in her letter. Let’s get you to the hospital. Go see the Gardai. This letter is addressed to my son Shane. Shane, all of this disappearing is no longer amusing. I’m terrified as hell of you. Would you kindly show up at a Gardai station as is the proper procedure? Please phone the Gardai if you are with Shane to ensure his safety.
